Heights Elementary School

SCHOOL MISSION
Heights Elementary develops lifelong learners who think compassionately and globally.

HISTORY
Heights Elementary became a Lee County school in 1964, serving 180 students living in the Harlem Heights area.  In 1969, the school was closed and the building was used as a storage facility. The school was reopened in 1971 as a small school serving the neighborhood and surrounding farm areas.  In 1975, thirty-one additional classrooms, cafeteria, and media center were added to the existing structure. This addition was in response to the increase in population in southern Lee County. In the fall of 2009, Heights became the first authorized PYP IB program in Lee County. Today, Heights serves approximately 900 students from the South Zone.
